This site is my personal collection of quotes, essays, photographs, and links to interesting reading on the web. I maintain this site in my spare time, whenever I come across something I think is worth saving and sharing. I hope you find it useful.
Here’s my story:
Over the past five years, I have undertaken a comprehensive study of advanced business literature in order to clearly identify critical business-related concepts and teach them to others. Beginning with a list of recommended business books I published in early 2005, I’ve been helping people from around the world improve themselves and their business skills via my website, The Personal MBA. Each year, I read hundreds of book about business and related fields like psychology and science and recommend the very best books available. The results of my research are published in my Personal MBA Recommended Reading List, which has been viewed over 100,000 times since publication and featured by BusinessWeek, Seth Godin’s blog, Lifehacker, and Cool Tools.
In addition, I’ve spent the past six years working in both the largest and smallest sectors of the modern economy simultaneously. After completing my undergraduate education at the University of Cincinnati Lindner School of Business, I went to work full-time for Procter & Gamble as an Assistant Brand Manager in P&G’s Home Care division, where I was responsible for projects that encompassed P&G’s entire value chain, from new product development to delivering in-store marketing campaigns for key customers like Wal-Mart, Target, and Costco. Most recently, I was responsible for leading the development of P&G’s global online marketing measurement strategy.
While working for P&G, I created a side business: Worldly Wisdom Ventures LLC, an independent internet publishing company that specializes in helping active and prospective entrepreneurs improve their business skills. The company turned cashflow-positive in 2008, and I now teach, consult, and produce educational materials on a full-time basis. In addition, I have served as an advisor to several organizations and non-profits, including the Boy Scouts of America (yes, I’m an Eagle Scout) and Citizens for a Compassionate Planet. As a result of my experience as a corporate manager, independent entrepreneur, and consultant / advisor, I have a solid appreciation of the needs, concerns, knowledge, and skills all of these groups find necessary and useful on a daily basis.
I am the author of an upcoming book, which will be published by Portfolio in summer, 2010.
